2025 IDEA Design Award Application Now Open!
The IDEA Design Award has officially started accepting applications for 2025. Organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), IDEA is one of the world’s most prestigious design awards, recognizing excellence in product design. It is considered one of the top three global design awards, alongside the Red Dot Design Award (Germany) and the iF Design Award (Germany).
1. Eligibility
All design awards have specific eligibility criteria, and IDEA 2025 is no exception. To be eligible for this award, a product or concept must have been officially launched or fully developed between March 1, 2023, and March 1, 2025. To ensure a smooth submission process, carefully review the entry rules in advance and confirm that all requirements are met before submitting your application.
2. Submission Period
(1) Regular Submission
January 13, 2025 – February 24, 2025
(2) Final Submission
February 25, 2025 – March 10, 2025
The regular submission period runs from January 13, 2025, to February 24, 2025. With only about a week left, those who are interested should take note of the deadline and submit their applications on time.
3. Entry Fees
The IDEA Design Award has different entry fees for IDSA members and non-members, and fees vary between regular and final submissions. If you plan to apply regularly, becoming a member and submitting during the regular period is recommended to save costs.
4. Judging Process
Blind Judging : The judging process is conducted blind, meaning designer names, company names, and logos must not be included in the application materials.
However, brand names or logos of the manufacturer / client are allowed if they are embedded in the product design itself.
Judging Criteria : The five key evaluation criteria are : Design Innovation / User Benefits / Branding & Market Relevance / Social Impact / Aesthetic Appeal These criteria emphasize innovative, user-centered designs, while also considering social value and aesthetic qualities.
5. How to Apply via the Website
(1) Log in to the Website
- Once you access the website, log in to your account.
After logging in, you will see a “Submit Application” button.
(2) Fill Out the Application Form
- Upon clicking the button, you will be directed to the application page, which looks like the image below.
(3) Enter Your Information
- Fill in the required fields : First Name & Last Name / Email Address / How You Heard About the Award (Select an Option
(4) Proceed to Product Details
- Once you have completed the personal information section, proceed to the Product Details section and enter the necessary specifications.
When completing the Product Details section, make sure to enter all information clearly and accurately in English, following the designated fields. While the form may seem complex at first, a detailed guideline is provided to help applicants navigate the process smoothly.
