Swap out one lamp in an otherwise unchanged living room and the whole space reads differently. Less conspicuous than furniture or wallpaper, light fixture design is one of the rare product categories where form and light source have to be resolved together. Settle the shape before settling where the light actually goes, and even a …
Vibe coding is what happens when a designer stops drawing a picture of an interaction and starts building the interaction itself. Instead of a click-through mockup that approximates how a panel might slide open, the designer describes the panel in plain language to an AI coding tool, watches it appear as working code, and taps …
Every brand has a voice long before anyone sits down to design one. It’s there in the confirmation email, the error message, the push notification that lands at an inconvenient hour. Most design teams spend months refining a logo, a color system, a grid — and then let the words happen by accident, written by …
Most products lose the majority of their new users before those users ever discover what the product is for. Onboarding is the design discipline built around that fact — and nowhere are the stakes higher than in the first three minutes, when a stranger decides, almost without noticing, whether to stay. 1. Distance to first …
The exploded view is one of industrial design’s quietest inventions — a drawing that takes something whole and pulls it gently apart, just far enough to see how it was put together in the first place. You have seen thousands of them without necessarily naming the technique. The diagram at the back of an IKEA …
